Everest North Col & Lhakpa Ri

EVEREST NORTH COL & LHAKPA RI TREKKING AND CLIMBING (7045M) :

80C

This trek-expedition offers Everest like very few people see. You will be a part of an Everest expedition and can get a feeling for what it is like to go for the top of the world, without risking your life to do it. Our plan is to follow the team all the way to the infamous North Col as they acclimitize for the summit push. Our summit target however will be the neighboring mountain of Lhakpa Ri, a 7000 meter mountain which sits less than one kilometer from the North Face of Everest.

62

The summit of Lhakpa Ri offers the views of world’s greatest mountains. Amongst the highlights are the Nyonno Ri range in eastern Tibet, the north face of Everest and the north faces of Makalu and Pethangtse. You can also see the beautiful and little known peak of Changtse and the frightening Kangshung (east) face of Everest and the magnificent east face of Lhotse.64c

There is an unrivalled view of the north east ridge of Everest, the North Col, Changtse, Cho Oyu and Shishapangma. You also have a chance to grasp the immensity of the Tibetan plateau as you can see hundreds of miles across the wildest of landscapes..

64fAlong the way, you will see Kathmandu, the Kote Bhose valley & the Friendship Bridge, Zangmu, Niylam, Xegar and Everest Base Camp. I have been to all of these places before and can give a great overview of what significance each of the sights plays. At Base Camp, we will have time to see the Rongbuk Monastery, sit and drink tea with the Yak herders at Base Camp, visit the chortans of famous climbers such as Mallory and Irvine, and see many of the caves the buddhist llamas use for meditation.

I can promise that this trip is an exciting one, which will give you the thrill of expedition life and the enrichening cultural experience of the tibetan life and buddhism, while allowing you to do it at arms length from any great danger.
